The College of Public Affairs (CPAf) established in 1998, emerged from various units of the University with a long and extensive experience in agricultural and rural development. The College, in the furtherance of public interests, currently offers graduate instruction, research and extension programs that center on the study of communities in transition and the interplay of their institutions such as resource access, governance, policy and education.

 

       To carry out its functions, CPAf has five institutes namely: Agricultural Credit and Cooperatives Institute (ACCI), Institute of Community Education (ICE), Institute of Development Management and Governance (IDMG), and Institute of Strategic Planning and Policy Studies (ISPPS).

 

 

 

OBJECTIVES

  

CPAf aims to:

 

  1. develop, refine, and access a body of functional knowledge, theories and principles to make  public affairs and development a multidisciplinary field of study and edge of local and national development efforts.

 

  1. operationalize and demonstrate socially viable approaches, mechanisms and institutional arrangements for promoting and effecting holistic and sustainable public service at the local and national levels.

 

  1. educate, train and provide continuing education to a cadre of professionals in the field of public affairs and development.

 

  1. provide assistance and facilitate collaboration in policy analysis and advocacy, implementation and evaluation of programs and services and in the dissemination of policy research outputs in response to the changing needs of the community.

 

 

 

The College offers the following graduate degree programs in pursuit of its goals and mandate:

 

 

 MS/PhD in Agricultural Extension

      MS/PhD in Extension Education

      MS/PhD in Community Development

      MM in Development Management

      Master in Public Affairs major in Local Governance and Development
