Good Governance Initiatives Forum

"Party List: Reshaping Traditional Legislative Governance"

The graduate students of the course Planned Change in Development under the Master in Management Program of the Institute of Development Management and Governance (IDMG) of the College of Public Affairs (CPAf) of the University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB) launched a Good Governance Initiatives Forum. The forum is a seminar and discussion intervention which aims to provide the community and stakeholders the various perspectives of changing governance landscapes and document the dynamism and innovations initiatives of the public sector as it impacts on the pursuit of sound development management of our country.

The Good Governance Initiatives Forum envisions to unravel modern and innovative models of governance amidst present-day politics in the country. It is meant as forum for exchange of ideas to open critical minds to discussions and strategies digressed from the traditional way of thinking about governance. A quarterly forum conceptualized and organized though the collaboration of DM 230 (Planned Change in Development) class and Institute of Development Management and Governance (IDMG).

The Good Governance Initiatives Forum is the start of a quarterly forum to promote the ideals of good governance among key institutional actors not only from the public sector but local communities as well.  The initial forum will have the theme "Party List: Reshaping Traditional Legislative Governance" and we have invited Rep. Mario J. Aguja of AKBAYAN and Rep. Joel Villanueva of CIBAC to be the guest speakers.

The event was held at ACCI Conference Hall, UPLB on  15 October 2004, Friday; 9:00 am- 12:00 noon. Students and staff from the academe and national government agencies in the Los Baños Science Community and key local officials and staff from the CALABARZON areas participated in the 3-hour forum.
